Hunting Retriever Club

“Our Hunting Season Never Ends…”

This is where you and your dog can hunt all year long….

We are in the era of the hunting retriever. Never before in the history of the retriever breeds, has as much energy and enthusiasm been spent training, and testing retrievers to perform in an actual hunting environment.

This is the on going philosophy of the natural Hunting Retriever Club. At weekly training sessions, members wearing suitable hunting attire work their dogs out of duck blinds and field blinds in realistic hunting conditions. Training sessions help to perfect the dog’s natural retrieving ability so that success and enjoyment come easier on opening day.

Many members enjoy competing in the nationally recognized retriever tests. These tests hosted by MMHRC and other HRC Clubs offer members an opportunity to test their dog’s abilities. HRC testing differs from standard field trials in that dogs are judged against written performance standards rather than against each other. Dogs accumulate points toward various titles, which describes the ability that they have achieved (HR, HRCH, GRHRCH). Judging dogs against defined standards rather than one another means that there are many dogs that “win” at one event. This lack of competition between handlers at HRC events provides a friendly and social atmosphere.

The HRC is a continent-wide retriever organization devoted to perpetuating the hunting instincts in retriever breeds. HRC is only interested in true-to-life hunting situations. With HRC you and your retriever will hunt to the gun. Those that succeed will be rewarded the title of Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH).

Conceived by hunters for hunters. That’s both the philosophy and reality of HRC-The Hunting Retriever Club, Inc.

Here is what HRC will do for you and your hunting retriever.

1. Provide a program where your dog competes against a set standard, not against other dogs.

2. A program where your gun is not taken away. The hunter handles the gun and the dog hunts to the gun.

3. Realistic hunting environments for the hunting tests.

4. An opportunity to improve the retriever breeds for what they were created for HUNTING.

5. The award of titles: Hunting Retriever (HR), Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH), and Grand Hunting Retriever Champion (GRHRCH) for passing the written requirements.

6. A year’s subscription to the bi-monthly magazine Hunting Retriever, the official publication of HRC.

7. Finally, our program is an educational program where the hunter gets a no-nonsense, true-to-life training and testing program where hunter helps hunter.

Whether it be to train your retriever to bag that crippled pheasant, duck, goose or grouse next hunting season, or for the thrill of individual competition, the Marsh & Meadow HRC welcomes your participation.
